Default Where's the '85 carerra cruise control brain???

I would like to get the CC for my '85 Carerra to work and have no idea where to look to start getting it fixed. Switch, control unit (which I don't know where to look for..), etc. Thanks for any help.

Thanks,
Rick

Not positive on the 1985 models but several years before they were near the fresh air box inside the front trunk--on a diagonal piece of black-painted steel strapping. Alternate location could be in the engine compartment but less likely. Porsche routinely attempted to isolate electronics from the harshness of the hot engine area.

Try this link

I think yours is the silver box in the front trunk, behind the panel that is the trunk backing. The 911SC Bentley manual has a good troubleshooting guide for the CC. I have an early edition 3.2 manual, but maybe the later updated manuals have it as well, I don't know.

It is in the front trunk-same on all Carreras, I believe.

Either in the trunk behind the cardboard panel next to the brake booster or under the radio next to the ashtray.('87-'89 I think)

The early cruise control unit for vacuum actuator is in the trunk behind the
panel cover. The later unit ('88 - '89 3.2) for the motor servo is under the dash.

My 88 Carrera has it located under the dash by the radio.

I knew the later units had it by the radio, but I thought that was limited to 89. Per Loren's post, the pre-88's were in the trunk.
