Default Rain guard on grill?

Hi all well seeing that my 911 was in pieces when i bought it not sure whats what on some things....my question is there or was there a kinda water tray under the decklid grill? to prevent engine from rain

Also on the 912. Since the engine is smaller than the 911 it is mounted further forward which gave the rain a direct shot through the grill to the distributor, coil, etc.

Sorry--haven't been on the 911 forum for awhile. No sort of guard was fitted on those series as they needed as much air movement as possible. The engines handle the rain quite well.
