See, this is why I hate to give advice. Now you'll end up with a viper green POS. LOL

More good luck in the hunt. I think you've turned over some good stones already.

Isn't there a Mexico Blue out there? There was a thread about a gorgeous yellow SC not long ago.
+1 Brett. Already covered some ground here.
I've been eyeing a 91 C4 locally with sport seats. Claims to have had a minor collision repair but I'm not to disueded as I want an all season driver. 3.6 cars are a lot of car for the money these days. I feel a flame thrower coming!

Not sure if it's the "coolest" color but how about this one? No affiliation...

That SC did not look appealing. Rust, as was mentioned is a big concern, especially as it is also a (poor) repaint - hard to assess what may be hiding. Good that you passed.

Here is a car local to me (Toronto Canada) that is a hot-rod 3.6 varioram SC:

I don't know the owner or car directly, but I have heard a little about him and I believe that he has a good reputation and is well known amongst the track crowd. However, that is a third party impression only.

The build details make this car sound like one that was done right. It seems like a lot of car for the money. No affiliation and please take all the normal precautions!

The Canadian ones is JAmes's car and i have been in it at the track. This is a track monster and may be too much for a first timer.. It is violently fast ...and is a great looking car.

No affiliation. This '78 on Pelican has been reduced to $9K. Needs some attention, but might be worth considering if you want to tinker.

Having bought a SC for under $9,000 in 2006, rust-free from Salinas (interior of CA), and subsequently spent a lot on it, I definitely would recommend waiting for a better deal. UNLESS this car comes with complete records covering maintenance and the claimed recent expenses, UNLESS you can check out exactly how much presence the rust has taken on.

This car sounds like it's well sorted and has a lot of things done to it! Not a bad price either!

that Denver Euro-car has promise. Euro cars are risky at times, but a good one is a great car with more power. Great car to start a hot-rod rebuild on. I like the Euro motors (RoW).

I was looking at another ROW closer to me but my much more knowledgeable buddy thought that, as a first P, i should look elsewhere. He said, 'ROW means rest of world..meaning it was imported to the US illegally as a gray market car. If it was legal, it had custom modifications done to pass the government codes of the day. I'd pass.'
And I guess that makes sense to be, being new to this and all. Plus, how can you tell for sure how things really are, when maybe buying from a distance?

The grey market status requires a careful look. Illegal is a broad term. The first shop I worked at did DOT conversions in the mid/late eighties. Many of the cars were rough when they got here. A lot of damage occured in port from vandalism and extended storage. Clearing a car through customs could take a while. Some DOT conversions were better than others but many were hack jobs. You will see a clean Euro car occasionally. There were more than one way to get them into the US legally and I don't know the details over the years, but I like um. Those side markers grow on you after a while, and the rear fog light was cool too.

This 1980 Coupe sounds nice. It says "exceptional condition", "well maintained over the years" and it says that it has the original paint. Might be worth checking out at $11.5K obo. I have no affiliation.....I'm just passing along the ad!
