I bought the factory mounting kit, and I have to say the first time you hit something, it pays for itself.

I lined up the sides first, then the center bolt. Then worked back on each side. The foam rubber will stretch if you go from one side to the other. I think the bolt holes for the side pieces need to be oblong. I left out the strange dog bone pieces, but you might figure out what function they serve.

It was pretty straight forward as I recall. I think I started in the center. Rusnak is right, the factory mount kit is robust as heck. It really is a stout piece all the way around. I'm trying to remember what the dogbones were. That was 8 years ago!

The dogbones go on the ends between the nuts and lower valence on the vertical area. If done right, they can help align and hold the lip while you work the rest of the piece.

Afraid not. I pulled both bumpers and valences over thanksgiving and painted them. I may be able to get under the car and shoot a pic. If I do, I'll post it.

BTW, is your garage heated? I hope so

Thanks Guys

I may pull the valance and have it painted also as I looked at it today and it could use a shot of paint. Thanks for info Gerry . I have every excellence since issue number 30 or so . I will go dig it up.
My garage is not heated but it is atached to the house so it stays at about 3C. With the halogens I need to see with these days it takes the chill out ...

what a classic look! I think the Targa never looked better. I like the Fuchs too.

I'm thinking about doing this project as well. Two questions...

> Can I run the lip without running the Carrera tail?
> How hard is the front valance to drop? (I'm want to get it painted after I fit the rubber lip.)

What's that white stuff on the ground, Clive?

Seems there was a good thread on this years back that Pete did....

EDIT: Pete's thread was on the tail, not the lip...
