Default Who's going to Daytona for the Rolex 24?

Got all my travel arrangements and my tix. I'll be there Friday thru Sunday for the races. There will be several of us meeting up on Saturday, and I think Friday.

This will be my first 24 hour race!!

It is also part of my training regimen for my visit to Le Mans for the "other" 24 hour race in June.

Hey there Ed,

There is a slim chance that I will make it out there, as there is a possibility of us lending some sponsorship to one of the teams. I will try to find out for sure and let you know. It would certainly be nice to meet up with you if I do end up traveling out for the event.

Ed

I am listing below some information that may be useful to you, regarding your trip to Daytona for the Rolex 24.

Arriving at the Jacksonville airport - Daytona is approximately 100 miles or about 2 hours.
Arriving from the Daytona Beach airport - race track is approx. 3 miles or 5 minutes away.
Arriving from Orlando airport - Daytona approx. 1 and 3/4 quarters to 2 hrs away. - Try to avoid Orlando rush hour traffic.

I would suggest you dress in layered clothing. The weather in Daytona at this time of year can be fairly confortably - to in the low 30 degrees. Often you received strong breezes, as track about 4 to 5 miles from ocean. Suggest you take a good pair of tennis shoes. Also I would you may want to get a map of the track of the internet.

Regarding additional information, I may be contacted in the following ways:

Erik-I hope you make it. It would be a pleasure to meet you.

Pete-thanks for the info. I've been to Daytona for the last Rennsport. I fly to MCO, it's not a bad drive. As i'll be in Denver for bidness prior, I'll have a broad array of clothing. I was in Orlando last year at this time and it was friggin' cold, and then there was that weather last week...

We'll probably have a few folks meeting Friday for dinner/beers Friday nite and may meet up at the track on Saturday. I'll keep this thread updated as plans gel.

We've got a few bodies together for dinner Friday nite @ 6:30 At the Ocean Deck Restaurant. If anyone here is interested, let me know for the headcount. I'll contact the restaurant to see about getting a table or two set aside.

Damn it. I don't think i can make it, but... we'll see. I've done Daytona a few times(team and spectator) and it can be a lot of fun. I like watching the late night hours-glowing brakes and turbos. If you spring for the paddock tickets you will get a cool perspective. I strongly recommend infield and Paddock passes. Roaming around the cars on the starting grid is fun right before the race. It's been a while since I have been but prices and acces was getting up there.

I've got the full access deal-I actually sprung for the Champions Club which is in the Daytona 500 Club building. A lounge with tv's everywhere and a balcony on top which supposedly offers a great view.

I think the two day standard ticket with paddock pass is $90 or so.

Probably not-I'll be doing my engine mods that month. I will be at Le Mans in June though.
