Default HELP - Porsche Guru's

To the performance Guru's. I have just purchased this:

"Carrera performance Chip labeled RUF,was in a RUF modified Carrera 3.2 ex Japan. Had RUF wheels bumpers, key etc.
As some dill mentioned DME had been wet.
Chip ran , was in unleaded with SSI/sport muffler. Not dynoed.
Free postage."
Cost: $1:04

Now my questions are:
1./ Can it be tested for integrity without inserting in a good DME?
2./ If it is good and was inserted is there a possibility of damaging the engine or DME?
3./ What other possible areas of concern would there be?
TIA.

I'm sure it can be tested somehow, but to what extent and/or difficulty, I'll defer to the experts.

I doubt a chip would get damaged even though the DME got soaked.

I think Russell Berry is on Pelican-search him out and PM him for his thoughts on testing.

Some may start screaming about the ethics involved in reading other people work, but I think anyone with an EPROM reader can read and play with anything that will plug into it. RUF may not like the idea, (I can think of a few others as well) but I think it would be awesome to see how close the maps are to Russell's.

Thanks for the input. I'll see if I can track him down.
Merry Xmas to all.
Dave.
