Default Possible bad DME relay?

I know the topic of the DME relay has been discussed at length. I did a search and found that one of the symptoms for a bad relay is a quiet fuel pump.

Well, this morning I did not hear the fuel pump prior to startup but the car started. It died immediately as the RPMs were going up and down. Is started it again and the car continue to run. Everytime I turned the key I did not hear the fuel pump. So I pulled the car back into the garage and against better judgement I backed right out and drove the car to work.

My drive to work is ~17miles, I had no issues. The RPMs were steady 1100-1200 throughout the drive. Now I'm sweating the drive home.

I'm a little confused, is the noise I used to hear the fuel pump? I think it was.

If you look at the schematics for the DME you will see the fuel pump runs when there is a start signal or when the microcontroller tells it to run.

Jorge, you'll be fine. Rick is correct, the fuel pump runs when the key is turned to the start position.
