Hi guys
I noticed when jacking up my car at the jack point the door closes harder. (jack point = the receiver for the standard Porsche jack in the rocker)
Is this normal or should I suspect rust ?![banghead](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/banghead.gif)
Since this is my first post, here's a picture of my car doing what it's made for

Cool looking euro car. Welcome. Usually coupes are pretty rigid as that is one of the halmark characteristics of a 911. Now targa and cabrio versions are real flexible and sometimes imposible to open and close the doors when on a lift or jack stands. Lots of debate over the targa/cabrio integrity as track cars. Your coupe's flex should be minimal but still, depending on where you jack it up and how it's supported, could show flex. Especially if the door is a little out of adjustment to begin with. Stay tuned and wait for some others to chime in. You have come to the right place for Porsche info and discussion. Welcome to Rennlist.

Jebus that was a big picture... And closing a little tougher is pretty normal, I wouldn't jump the gun and assume rust is the culprit, but it's certainly worth having a good look around. Hows the front Pan?... signs of rust there?, if not you're probably ok as thats usually the first spot to go.

the pic isn't big enough .. could you enlarge it a little ? naw i think that is fairly normal . the car wasn't really designed to sit like that ...

my coupe doors are slightly tighter when one end is jacked up (front or rear). When I put all 4 corners on jackstands though, it's as if the car were on the ground.
I can't say that the coupe flexes a lot less than the 914, which is a targa, or the 356 Cab, which has some huge side longitudinals.
I don't want to add to the debate, but I have not noticed personally any less flex in the coupe. I think on all 911s it is good to adjust the door so that it closes well with minimal amount of "pop" when you open a door.

Thanks for the replies !
There's no rust te be found on the front suspension pan or elsewhere (last year I took the car apart for a respray so I'm pretty sure). Was just worried about rust in the rockers...
I'll try to post a smaller pic tonight (euro time)
