What kind of perfomrmance expected from 1978sc??
This car has no emmissions crap and a back dated muffler system. Also I need to fix two headstuds what could I do to better the performance while I'm in there???

have an 83 cab sc and everyone told me just enjoy the car not much to do except for exhaust and a few little things. i am dropping a turbo motor in my car to get the performance i want. even if you were to go into the motor and drop a fortune you would be lucky to see 240 horeses. but it is a bullet proof motor and not that bad for the horses it has. good luck

Check out Noah Pollak's article on Extracting Power from CIS 911s from over on Pelican. Cams and pistons should get you quite a bit. Displacement increase will give you a little more.

A bigger throttle body will do very little, if anything, on the CIS system when retaining the sotck pistons and cylinders. The restriction in the system is not in the air intake. SSI's or pre-74 exhaust will boost performeance. The latter is probably the most popular and least expensive perfromance upgrade on these motors.
