I am looking for a little help with a new set of tires I just put on my 78 SC. The tires I chose are Yokohama S drive in the original manufacturers sizes for front and back. I have the original 16" Fuchs. With the tire mounted on the wheel, there is very pronounced shoulder at the edge of the rim. It looks intentional like it is supposed to help protect the rim from curb rash but I have these very same tires on my wife's '07 C230 MB and there is no shoulder at all. Part of the wheel on the MB covers this shoulder but the SC wheels do not.
I really like these tires on the MB, are they OK for the SC?

I had Yoko ES100's on my "82 SC and they had the same rib on them to protect from curb rash.
They worked great in both dry and wet pavement, which was not the case with the previous tires I had (which were somewhat scarey on wet at high speeds). I also had the car lowered to Euro ride height which not only improved the handling but also the look (IMO). I think you can't go wrong with the Yokos.
