Default 1975 300hp Turbo Targa for only 8k!!

bringatraler.com has a 300hp Targa...only catch its a rotary Mazda engine. For the not so purist looks like a fun track car...if you don't kill yourself in it.

In the 'strange but true' coincidence column...

The rotary engine was developed in the 50's by Felix Wankel. A German mechanical engineer, Wankel began development of the engine at NSU (NSU Motorenwerke AG), leading to the first running prototype on February 1, 1957. NSU Motorenwerke AG, was a German manufacturer of cars and motorcycles, which was founded in 1873. It was acquired by Volkswagen Group in 1969. VW merged the company with Auto Union, to eventually evolve into Audi as it is known today.

If one can get over the non-Porsche aspect, reducing the car's weight by about 200 lbs and bringing the weight dist to 53% rear ain't shabby either.

Very cool, I'd love to drive it. I had an Rx-7 turbo II and it was a pretty peppy car. The rotary install looked pretty clean in that Targa. Thanks for sharing!

I know the car and owner from an RX-7 meet at Deal's Gap/Tail on the Dragon. Here is some info he shared with me:

Dave,

Embarrassingly, I haven't really driven or had the car in for service so the brakes are as you saw them last. Part of the reason for the sale and buying the other car is that my wife veto's any use of the car for trips and the like. Therefore the search began for a replacement a few months ago.

It's a '75 - but I believe it's a galvanized body car. No rust issues.
Motor is a 89 T2 motor. About 12k miles on the rebuild - motor build and tune were done by RX7.com.

Asking $8,000 for the car and various things I have with it (mainly the rollbar and aftermarket top).
Have an ad up here with full details - http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?t=499592
Best,
John

I know he bought the car from a preacher in Texas who built it. It has a SuperTrap exhaust on it now and I would look for something else to use.
