Default Clutch Spin Problem

I’m having a clutch spin problem with my 78SC. That is, crunching into reverse, hard shifting and clutch not disengaging correctly. Put in a new cable and adjusted it correctly with no success. I’ve pulled the clutch and it seems OK, there is plenty of disc left. I notice that the Sachs clutch as no positive way of pulling a pressure plate back when the clutch is disengaged. It seems to work by centrifugal force and could explain why these clutches seize. I’m wondering whether a new clutch will fix this. Anyone had any similar experience or useful comments? Thanks.

well reverse is not meshed at all I don't think ... how long are you giving things to spin down before shifting ? I have to wait a good 5- 10 seconds before trying to put it in reverse after forward motion or she will grind.

Try going to 2nd, 3rd, or 4th, and then reverse.

You seem to be describing the way my '78 started acting back years ago when the factory original rubber center clutch started coming apart, bits of rubber kept the clutch "engaged".
