Default SC cylinder bore & rechrome

I have a 78 911 SC and need to know if anyone has experience in re-boring and re-chroming cylinders. I would also like to know if the stock 95 mm cylinders can be bored to fit the 98 mm pistons to make a 3.2 l short stroke motor.

I posted under the performance section with my project but got no response. My plan is to rebuild my 98,000 mile 3.0 l motor with the stock crank and rods using new bearings and rod bushings. I have ARP rod bolts. I am using JE 10.5 pistons with the stock rebuilt SC heads. The combination includes GE 60 cams, PMO 46 mm carbs and 1 5/8 headers with a Bursch muffler.

When I rebuild the heads I'm twin plugging and will run a crank fired, six coil set-up with no distributor. Does anyone see any problems with this set-up? Anyone want to guess at HP? I think it will be 250 - 275. Is that wishful thinking?

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

Your cylinders can be bored and replated with Nikasil (they are not chrome) but it leaves VERY little material to support the CE ring groove.
