Does anyone use car products from Griots Garage? Are they worth the money? Are mother's products or similar car care products just as good. Can anyone suggest a product to restore the black on my whale tale and targa top. Oh and the targa roll bar.
Thanks,
Justice

I have the black dye product from Griots Garage. It is simply dye, not preservative. Wurth Rubber Care or Gummi Pflege is good for restoring your rubber trim pieces. I don't know about Mothers. I regard Griots as a less expensive alternative to Zymol, which is primarily what I buy.

Been using Griot's exclusively for the last year or so. Very happy with the results. Got a starter kit for Christmas including a random orbital and all the bells and whistles. Haven't tried many other products.

I have used Mother's Back to Black for all the trim/rubber with good results. Luckily, mine wasn't weathered or in bad condition so it is more maintenance than restoration.

hmm..Griots has changed their product lineup. This stuff looks interesting. I didn't mean that the black dye from them was not good, only that you'd still need to use some sort of vinyl conditioner.

I have been using Griots for years and they have some great products.I don't use their waxes or polishes, but everything else has been great.I especially like the interior cleaner. It works and is clear with no dyes.

Good products, but no, not worth the money. Meguiars, Mother's, P21s and other higher end products are just as good.
Do a side by side test on your car & see.
There are a million opinions out here w/o any testing...
I posted my own test on Pelican years ago. Meguiars is as good as anything I tested.

I use vynex on all black trim, including my targa top, roll bar and tail...works great and is fairly inexpensive, plus can be bought OTC. it can also be used on tires and doesn't leave any residue like some of those petroleum based products.

This stuff is cheap and works very well on tires and rubber trim. It lasts longer than anything else. I save the Wurth stuff for the door seals, and fuel injection boots and intake boot.
Sometimes it is just nice to use hoity toity car care products.

I tested it against Vinylex, Zymol vinyl conditioner, Wurth Rubber Care, Gummi Pfledge, some British stuff called Autoglym (which was actually pretty good)....and other stuff that I can't recall. I liked the products that don't leave a greasy film that attracts dust. The Wax Shope stuff leaves a sort of waxy residue that can be buffed out so that it attracts less dirt, and is not too shiny.
Edit: Here's the Autoglym stuff if anyone wants to try it:

I have used their products quite a bit and just changed this past year to autopia's ultima and have not looked back. Much easier to prep and polish and wax. http://www.autopia-carcare.com/ult-1100.html
