yeah if that shifter turns or lifts up at all you will miss the lock out and hit Rverse .. lifting the rubber boot will tell you in 30 seconds ...

Marlon,
If you indeed have this issue, my suggestion is to have him remove it...clean shaft and socket extremely well... and epoxy it back in place. (the one I used is acceptable for metal). This worked for me...hasn't moved at all in 6 months. Good luck and keep us posted.

Talked to my mechanic and he confirmed it's or the lockout, or the coupler or worst case: something in the tranny broke. But given the low mileage and ease of shifting through all the gears, he is leaning towards the the lockout and/or the coupler issue.

Marlon if you want to do a quick check of the coupler go into the back seat and lift the carpet between the seats, you will see a panel with 4 screws. underneath thee is the coupler . it should all be tight with bushings,, if it looks sloppy at al or the bushings have falen out it will shift like crapola....
