yep that's the ebay link. spoke to the seller's mechanic today. the motor and trans were upgraded to the 2.4L with the 915 trans, THAT is what has 30k miles. the true mileage on the actual chassis are unknown. Car has no rust issues and supposedly drives fine, "other than it needing new carbs"? He is also unsure if the car has an issue with the 2nd gear synchro or if it is just an issue with the aftermarket short-shift kit.
original owner was a "Porsche collector" and this was 1 of 4. this was "his show car" hence all of the upgrades.
personally i love the look of the original '70 longhood, but for what the car is, the price isn't bad.

For your first 911 I think it'll be a fun car. That price is good since you'll undoubtedly put $ into the car. (we all do!!)
I agree with Pete...The rear sits lower than the front. Get that balanced and she'll look great! Keep in touch (Long Islander).

Great price, and it sounds like the "upgrades" were well done. They all like to be shifted slowly and deliberately--short shift kits tend to exagerate any problems with the transmission simply because they tend to force quicker shifts. Don't try and force it...you'll get a feel for it.
Carbs are best left to an expert. One of the problems (I've heard) is that the carbs have to be adjusted fairly quickly because the temperature of the engine changes throughout the adjustment process. Anyway, I puttered with mine for a year or two, gave up and let my wrench do them. Good news is once set, they'll stay that way for a long time.
Set the ride height, then check the alignment. And if you like the original look, consider finding a plain decklid on eBay or ask around. A lot of people who have switched to tails have them--you might even get luckly and find one with good black paint. I've even known people who switch back and forth depending on their mood. But taking off the tail and bumpers will take a lot of weight off the back...which can be a good thing.
But it sounds like you got a great deal.
So do you have it yet?

i will bet it is a second gear synchro , it is just one of those areas on the 915 that goes. treat it carefully and you might get some time out of it but ultimately it will need to be replaced . yes a SS will pick it up even more , but a bad synchro is a bad synchro. mine has been somewhat probleamatic for 5 years but i treat it gently and it has not gotten any worse..

That looks like a Jackie Stewart signature Momo wheel (but I may be mistaken). Very nice.
