Hi,
This is my first post on this board. I bought a 1974 Carrera yesterday, and I have to wait a couple weeks for it to arrive, so I have nothing better to do than talk about it. I have a few old 911 parts cars that I had been contemplating as track car projects, but decided to just go ahead and get a car that already runs with matching color body panels.
I live in Atlanta, and look forward to participating in the forum.

Thanks Jaxon, Hey have you ever bought a car "sight un-seen" and had to wait for it to come, all the while fighting off the images of the "seller" getting on a boat to China with the money AND the car ? Or perhaps the car looks good in the photos, but the photos are 25 years old, or maybe the car has no pistons, but you forgot to ask "that" question. Man it is gonna be a long two weeks.
On the other hand, maybe it is really nice.....
Do any of you guys (girls) do track events ?

I've never bought one sight unseen, but I've come very close. I know of some people who have done so successfully. If someone else has looked at it for you that can really help.
I don't know what's up with the board today but usually you would have received a number of posts by now. I know many of those who participate on this board do track events. I haven't ever found the time. But I better get to them soon, before I run out of time. That Porsche you've purchased is supposed to be very light. What engine? Any picture you can post?
I will purchase an older model like yours some day soon. Tough sell to wifey with 2 Porsche's in the driveway.
Let us know how things turn out, and post what you have in pics!

I just figured out that "Trackquest" is associated with this list. I have run with them at Road Atlanta before. Nice bunch.
Here is car ( I hope ). It has a 3.0
It is serial number 9114400087.

The Carrera 3.0 was produced for 1976 and 1977 only. Prior to that in 1973-1975 the Carrera used the magnesium case 2.7 with MFI for a limited run each year and cis for most of the 74-75 cars.
There were some very rare Carrera 3.0 RS mfi built in the 74-75 model years, but they are immediately recognizeable because of the wide 930 size flares.

Yes, I actually have a 2.7 spare , but it did not come with this car. This car is in California and I am working on Getting it to Atlanta before Christmas. I know it has it's problems, but I will be happy if it just shows up under the tree !

What a what ? mistake ? Please don't scare me during this difficult time . ....
No Jaxon I have never driven a 3.0, but I did have a 1966 911 (with a wooden dash facia !)
when I was in my collegiate dilema. I remember that car had a very peculiar heater.
Maybe I should fly out there and drive her home, but I would miss Christmas with the family.
I only want to go so far on the track deal.Rollbar will be added, seats(maybe), fire bottle, but not any engine or brake mods. This is the car to drive to work and pretend I'm Steve
McQeen. I shall post a first drive report if and when it arrives.
Nice to have the list as an asset, thanks.
