Look for a stylized "P" which will look like a triangle and a half circle, inside another triangle. In your case, the size ought to be 7Jx16. If you don't see the P logo, then it's not genuine Porsche. Yes, Porsche owns the rights to the wheels even though they are made by Otto Fuchs.

Ricster called it my friend. You have 7" wheels. The next time you have them off, make sure they are genuine because whatever they are, they are not the car's original wheels.

By the way, does anyone have a good trick to get the lower rubber trim strip back on? I've been able to slide it back on in the past, but this time it is not going on. I'm going to try some Baby Powder I think. I've been putting off re-installation because I'm not sure if I want to fiddle with the rear torsion bars some more.

Thanks rusnak,
I think rusnak is right...you want the 8's or 9's in the rear and you should go with 205 series tires upfront to minimize inner fender contact. Make sure the fenders are rolled or your going to have damage there.
They actually used 8's in the rear in only one year...that year being 1989. The factory wheel setup in 1986 was 6's and 7's either 15 inch standard or the optional 16's in which you have...just 2 sets of 7's. I would choose 225 rear tires on 8's and again 205's on the front. You can check with tire rack..I think you can get michelin cup tires through tire rack in that size configuration. You can also get the new Bridgestone re-11's I think as well. I am running on my 86 the re-01 r tires from bridgestones which are the older version of the new re-11's.

i hate fender rolling.... just a personal thing .. the lip on the fender is to add stregnth and rigidity to the body panel . rolling not only reduces this but risks cracking the paint. Just my personal view point. You should be fine with mentioned 205 on the front and 225 on the rear without any rolling.
You will find 9" wheels uber-expensive and even 8s not cheap . the 7's and 8's look is nice. I personally think the 9"s look a little overdone on a " narrow body" car. They were designed tfor the wide assed turbo.
Just my opinion , and that is worth exactly what you payed for it

I can say without question after reviewing that picture of your car...that they are in fact 7's. The tell tale sign for me is the way the lip sits. If they where 6's they would be more clear cut in the lip where the 7's are more radial like you have there. You also have the stem holders on both front and rear and those are placed on the 7's and larger wheels..though they just stick on..no one uses them on 6's. Now the question...are they real Fuch wheels? You need to take them off to see the triangle "p" on the back....and made in germany stamped on the back. For your sake I hope they are real, then you can contact wheel enhancement and trade the 7's in for 8's or 9's. I am thinking why they are on there in the first place....just soooo Odd.

take closer pics and post them Ricster is right and the giveaway is the rim . on a 6" rim the outer flare is flat , on a 7" rim it angles out a little on an 8" it angle out a lot ..

Yep, I have 7" in front with 205s. I had tire rubbing on one tire, and found out it was because I had neutral camber. With about a degree and a half of neg camber, no tire rubbing, and no need to roll the front fender.
