88 Coupe Pricing Help. Anyone knows Victorymotor?
I am considering this car. What do you think is a fair price for the car. They will ship the car to CA for free. They will also do the compression/leak down for free. I have a copy of a clean car fax report. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...6765&viewitem=
I won't bias you with the asking price. They said that the interior is 9/10 but one of the pictures showed a pretty worn out door's sill and the leather looks pretty worned out. Does anyone know this dealer?
Is there anyone in the Houson area who might have seen this car in the showroom.
Thanks

Although the car appears to be a nice, low mile example, there have been several threads on this forum discussing bad experiences with Victory. That's not to say that they cannot have nice cars in their inventory. I would highly suggest getting an INDEPENDENT shop to perform a comprehensive PPI on the car and, if possible, flying to see it with your own two eyes.
If it does check out and the price is right, go for it. '88 Carreras rock!

I just picked up a 1986 Coupe, black on black, 113k, 3 owner car. The motor is clean enough to eat off of, no leaks or smoke at all. The interior is perfect, but the paint needs attention. Everything works on the car, it came with a full service history. Not a ding on the car. I think I stole the car.. I could not be happier.

I'd stay away from bidding on e-bay cars....chances of getting a good one are low.

California is the 911 hub of the US. Go over to Pelican, and look for some nice Carreras in your area.
Also, find the Quality 911 mechanics in your area. They sometimes know when someone is ready to sell, and they can maybe put you on to a nice car. I have said this a million times, but there are a lot of good 911's out there. Take your time and get a good one, because as they say, you can pay me now, or you can pay me later. Often the not so good ones cost as much too, and look good, so don't just go by emotions.

No leaks. The guy I bought it from had it for ten years and said the only leak he had was from the oil switch. The guy that did the PPI at the Porsche dealer said he could not beleive the cleanliness of the motor, and was suprised that the original cat was still in place. The only thing that he could really beat up were that the pads were at 50%. A/c is completely operational, and nothing on the car does'nt work. I looked for a while, this was by far the most mechanically perfect. With all records since 40K, 1995, I might add. I worked on him for a month, he was asking $17,500. I don't even want to say where we setteled, but it wasn't in the teens!

I've never seen a drop of oil on the ground for my 86, but I notice seapage around the left chain cover and the oil cooler line come from the thermostat to the rear of the car will show some seapage at the fitting. But no drops, yet! I've been told by other local p-car owners not to touch it, all normal for these cars.

I've seen mag case cars with no leaks. Its not a given that 911s leak oil, just expected. I could offer debate on the statement that Calif. is the Porsche hub of the US. Lots of people on the East coast raised the bar in the Porsche community, especially motorsports.
