Default 88 911 rear speakers

Hello All,

Does anyone know if I can put 6x9 speakers in the rear of my 911? I know the speakers that are in the rear are 4x6's. I don't mind a little modification. I was just trying not to put a sub any where in the car. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
JJ

Hi, Welcome to Rennlist!

I'm not big on cutting up rear decks, have you checked out the custom sub enclosure by Rod Birch?

I have a nice custom rear deck that is lightweight and fits oversize (6 1/2") rounds perfectly. I can post if you're interested. I think you could fit the 6x9s, but the issue is depth. If you're not careful you can end up with gaps and heinous speaker spacing.

I need to replace my rear deck because the leather shrunk and bent the panel board. Original Fit Interior makes a rear deck conversion for 6X9 speakers. $300 leather $270 vinyl. No website available 1-541-459-1700. There did not seem to be much on Pelican that said anything nice about the fit and finish and the delivery time though.

Does anyone have experience with this item? I saw it advertised in an old Panorama.

Try www.appbiz.com. The sell repro rear decks that have the upper portion made out of fiberglass. I had one at one time that I never put in. It seemed to have room to put 6 X 9's in.

Looks stock and only black. Pelican has the stock parts in black and they are cheaper, I think. The Original Fit could be made in custom colors and was cheaper but I am still concerned about quality. The only way for me to get it back to original is to do it myself in brown and beige. It will be a challenge to duplicate the original perforation for the speaker vents.

I think they make rings that will raise the 6X9's up so bottom clearance is not an issue if you don't mind them sticking up an inch or 2.
