Yes, I did a search (on line) the owners manual shows the plug but does not say if you need to go under, even the "project book" tells how to change the fluid but does not show location. I do not see it in the enging bay? Is there an access panel? Any help would be appreciated. Yes, yes, I know it is a dumb quesion.

I believe on your car it is about 4 inches on the bottom from where the tranny meets the engine. It is not the flat head screwdriver bolt but another one. It is sort of near the arm on the tranny. It's not hidden. Two points, before you remove, make sure you can remove the bolt on the side where you put the tranny fluid in. If you drain and then are unable to remove the filler plug your in trouble. Also, buy a long clear hose and a funnel that fits the hose. This will help when your put the fluid in, otherwise it is a pain and very messy. Hope this helps.

You want it to be level, so either can put it up on a lift, or on 4 jack stands, or remove the left rear tire then lower the jack so the car is level. Then support it so you can safely crawl under to remove the side bolt to check the fluid level. Do not check the fluid if the car is not supported well - a jack alone is not safe support.

I can't understand why they would have made it so difficult?

Thanks for the help.

losti,
It's not really difficult, it was intended to be checked with the car on the lift. Tell me you don't have one in your garage!
