Default M & K mufflers - any good?

Hi All

I am interested in a dual in - dual out M & K muffler for my '83 engine 77 911. I use it primarily for DE but do drive around to/from the track. Can anyone tell me if they are ok - good - loud -drivable?

Thanks.

Dave

I have a 1 in, 1 out M&K for my 3.2 that I think is great. Well made, has a good sound that is just right for me on the street. Any 2 in, 2 out is going to be loud, no getting around it. Probably be OK if your primary mission is for the track. Ben is an easy guy to do business with.

If I had a criticism I think the tips could be a little more sporting...

I have that muffler. It is very light and not very loud, registering at 95 db at the sound booth at Laguna Seca. It is tolerable on the street. I'll have the motor on the dyno soon and compare it with phase 9's.

Hands down Ben makes the best mufflers. Every Porsche that I have owned has had an M&K exhaust. In fact, i just put an M&K on my track car on July 4. Ben uses the best material, his welds are amazing, he stands behind his products, and the sound is like nothing else. Just buy it and dont look back (NO pun intended).

I have a 1 in 1 out on my 3.2 and love it. Ben is a great guy to deal with.

If you really want to see some lengthy accolades for Ben's work, go over to Pelican Parts and search their BBS.

Oh, I forgot to say that I like my M&K muffler. It only weighs 15 lbs and I can pass sound at all the tracks that I race at!

thanks guys for all the kind words. One thing that should be noted we make a few variations of this muffler now in motorsports option which is lighter and flows a bit more. just a smaller package really .
