Default ignition failure 911 SC

I have no spark from the coil, the CDS unit hums when I turn on the ignition, the 1980 911 SC sits in the garage since the tow truck put it there last October after it just stopped at 2 in the morning on the Penn turnpike. With the engine turning over I had no spark from the plugs. The coil is new (4 years) but the CDS is original. All the wiring from the ignition back looks good so I am thinking the problem is the CDS unit or, maybe, the coil. any suggestions on how to check and what to check. Help me, I wanted to drive the lead sled to my 40th high school reunion and right now it looks like I have to go in the Saab convertible if I can't get the ignition firing.

What color is the coil?

Silver ones are known for dying early.

Remove the distributor and spin it by hand with the key on. Inductive PU in the distributor..??
