Post OEM Cruise - $$$$$ Control

Ex Germany - they still supply the kit but at Aus$3000.00 plus tax and fitting for the OEM cruise control I'll be looking for an after market make-do.
I would much prefer the OEM for integrity but at that price I'd have to sell "her" car for it, then "I'd" be the one having to do the shopping and kids to school!
Bugger! <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" />

I have the cruise on mine & never use it. If it's not too difficult to remove, I would be interested in selling it.

Hello Sean. I added cruise control to my 914. I have the VDO system like the Factory one except that I have the later version, it has 4 functions on the stalk.
What I would suggest is that you buy a kit from a VDO agent in Melbourne, The control stalk from Aporschapart in Mordialloc or genuine. The worst part of this is making an extension to the harness and fitting it. But it is not impossible.

Option 2 is to fit an aftermarket one. I get them from Electric life. I am sure they have an office in Vic. The one I use is the Friggate brand. But get the electric one, not the vacuum one. Don't work that well when you have multiple throttle bodies. No vacuum.

If you have trouble with the wiring, drop me a line and I will see if I can help.

Thanks Saint,
Seems you've blazed a local trail. I'll follow your lead.
I like to drive via the tacho. The new speed rules here where they removed the old 10% tolerance and you'll now get done if you're only 3klm's per hour over ANY limit, as well as re-calibrating the speedo, makes the cruise control almost mandatory. I've yet to find a tech that will guarantee his recalibration to better than 10% let alone 3%! (for 103klm's per hour)
Takes the fun out of driving our marque!

Thanks also for the help offer...... may need it (knowing me) <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" />
