Today, while changing my front brake pads, I noticed that the dust seals are falling apart. Can these be easily replaced without removing the calipers or should I just go ahead and remove and rebuild the calipers? Also can this wait or should I do it right away? The car is an 84 911 with 84K
Typically you buy an inexpensive ($15-$25) kit (unless, as an aside, you have brembo quad-piston calipers where parts run around $100 per caliper) that contains both the piston seals and the dust seals (baby food top is the right size to push the dust seals into place). When I've rebuilt calipers, I've always taken them off the car.
