I have a 1981 911 SC. It is time to replace the shocks. I have green Bilsteins front and rear. Possibly sport shocks but I'm not sure. The car is lowered and very stiff. I know how to replace the rear shocks. Isreplacement of the front shocks (cartridges as I understand it) difficult or require special tools. Also, if I don't have Bilstein sport shocks in the front already will the sport shock cartridge fit or do I have to replace the struts?

Dave,
Bilstein Sport Shocks are yellow and yes you can get sport inserts for your fronts and the fronts are just a bit less easy than the rear,no special tools needed.Good luck !

Hi Dave:
If I might chime in here and just offer that Sport inserts in your struts can be a little harsh riding unless this is a serious track car.
These are easy to change and we've had really good luck with using Sport rear shocks and HD front inserts, even with upgraded larger torsion bars. You can even change the front inserts without removing the struts from the car.
