Are you kidding me? 911 @ $2,950

Nope, not me. I've never been in sales. I have seen a bunch of cars that seem to make the wholesale circuit. Every gravel-lot owner tries to put a new pair of panties on the old girl...before the Ebay grainy pics.

Hey for $2,950, it's a steal. It's either that or a 200k mile Jetta. Which would you rather have? I'm sure there are some 911 rollers that have sold for more than that....... I'm also certain there are many targas on the market for 10-15K that also need tops and TLC.....

Just hear me out....
What if this car is caught in the middle of a love triangel? jilted Ex-lover posts pics and phone number with story just to disrupt the life of said lover. Now if the owner does try to sell the car with a rosie story and reasonable price the buyers will have seen this add and think twice about the condition of the car.
...and yes I really did see the lights over Phoenix...

What if the car appears on the Highway Patrol's stolen list? What if the missing Pennsylvania woman and her daughter's bodies are stuffed in the trunk? Oh, that's right, they found them at Disneyworld...

You never know.
My brother picked up a cherry 73 914 2.0 forabout 2K last year with a fresh re-built motor bored out to 2.4 liters (200 miles on rebuild).
Origianlly owned by a copncours nut from the New England area that removed the bumpers & rocker panels & wheels during winter storage and covered the areas with a ton of wax whcih was removed in the spring. Pretty rare thing to do since the 914 was not considered a "real" Porsche at the time and most dealerships hid the cars in the back.
Seller picked it up as a trade a few back and knew nothing about 914's and needed to clear out his garage since it would not start (bad starter)
Came with all the paperwork since 73 and every single part that was replaced was labeled and sorted in various bags & boxes including never installed new rear brake calipers
Sorry about rambling on here...

I've been looking for a clean '73/74 2.0 liter for a long time, but I don't have much hope of finding one here in Bakersfield...

Thats cool peter. I would love to see a 914 after you got done with it. There are so few of them around anymore, especially here on the East coast. When you see one in good shape, its worth looking over. I can't think of anything else that gives you the feeling of being so close to the pavement. A well sorted 2.0 can be suprisingly quick too.

Seller emailed me. Said he was out of the country and all that , blah, blah blah. Sounds just like those emails from the Craigslist scams. Oh, the guy calls himself "Gay Christopher". Maybe he's holding out for a cab! J/K.

Here is what I got back:
Hi,
I am sorry for the late reply. The car is still for sale. It has a clean title, very well maintained, no exterior damages and no mechanical problems. I am selling it cause I am in the army at Ft.Lauderale/FL navy station and in two weeks I will be in Iraq. I will stay there till September 2009 and I can't use it anymore. The price is $2950 (I know is really cheap but we need cash money ASAP in order to purchase a new house and during this financial crisis the price will be cheaper each day). My work here is highly confidential and I can use the phone only for a family emergency.
I am from Los Angeles/CA as you can see from my autotrader add but my family is located in Memphis/TN and the car is here too, garage kept. We are willing to pay the shipping and handling fees and the total will remain $2950. The delivery time will be 3-5 days, depending on your current location and I already found a local shipping company which is not so expensive for shipping in US. My wife will take care of the shipment.
Here you have some info about it:

Three Wheelin'
Just be careful. Over on the 911 turbo forum, one of the guys has had images of his car stolen twice and used in scams like this. The scammer lists the 911 turbo for $9,500.00 and uses pictures of a really nice car. If you are prepared to send this guy money, then also be prepared to take a chance and lose that money. I'm not saying this one is a scam, but it sure smells like one. Even garbage P-cars go for more than that. Best of luck.
