got some quick help on another forum. Still a "no" from almost everybody? I'm liking it... Reminds me of something you'd see from Porsche racing in the 70's. Obviously caps would be painted too.

If the car were white w/ a Lime green carrera script I would say go for it, but IMO that's too much green. (Look here for a good example of what looks "right" to me (page 1): http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?t=459829
x2 on the RSR finish (going polished route looks good but they are HUGE PIA to keep clean if you ever run in the rain).

I agree that that car looks great. I'm still on the fence. I'm ok with being a little different. There's nothing subtle about a lime green car as it is.
This car will become my dd, in FL, so keeping it clean will be a pain anyhow.

It's been in a garage for the past 20 years or so...you wouldn't have seen it. Hank, the owner of Coney Island, was owner #2 of this FL only car. He never really enjoyed the car so it sat. He finally decided to sell and that's when my 968 went up for sale. He was my dad's landlord when my dad started his business. I've known and wanted this car since I was a little guy.
I appreciate the pollished petal look but it's option 3. The plan has always been to go with black but I've been thinking about this green concept. Do we have any good photoshop-ers here? I'm not sure if this is the exact color, but it's close. Can somebody put some lime green fuchs on this 911?

I also took a picture a few years ago of a lime green carrera (1974 or 1975) at the festival of speed that had gold centered fuchs - it looked surprisingly good.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the RSRs have huge magnesium centerlock wheels?
The RS had Fuchs with the center blackout treatment in 3 color options: Red, Blue, and Green. If you did an RS style wheel, you'd paint the entire center in green. But the wheels would look wider than RS wheels, and the car looks much heavier than an RS because of the impact bumpers.
If it were my car, I'd probably go with blackout centers in Black, and then stop. You can't do too much in chrome because of the black window and door handles. If you want, I can post a pic of a proper looking 2.7 1974 with Carrera script and blacked out wheels. Just my honest $.02.

You're absolutely right...that's why I'm still leaning towards lime green. Just curious as to what other people think about it since I've never seen it. Obviously some of the more subtle colors have been done but I haven't seen lime green.

As long as you're looking for opinions -- I'm all for what you've labeled option 3: polished (or RSR-finished) rims, petals and black painted insets. It'll look great with any Porsche green.
Body-color wheels are good for cars owned by shriners and clowns. The rest of us should opt for some combination of black and the color of the wheel's metal. (Now that I think of it, the same goes for tailpipes.)
But that's just my opinion. Yours is the one that's important for your car. I've got a lot of details on my car that other guys wouldn't choose.
(Bud dude, I'm begging...)
