Default PICS OF MY NEW CAR!! FUTURE RSR targa?

I am back with my 9th pcar!!
I do not think I can leave it alone!!
I picked up a fairly tweaked 78 targa with a 3.2(see avatar pic)
The car is going to require some minor paintwork on the rear 1/4
I think this would be a great time to add turbo flares. I am also thinking
about adding a ducktail and rsr bumpers.
Does anyone out there have pics of a targa with these mods?? Calling Jack Olsen!!

Search on Pelican for Targa RSR or Targa ST. There was thread up a few months ago started with the same question. Several pics were put up, including some I have on my personal computer.

Also, I'd ditch the cage pretty quickly or mod it to a rollbar. That ain't cool on the street, unless your partial to wearing your helmet all the time.

Oooooh....me like.

Very nice car. I won't lie, I'm a 100% no sunroof coupe guy, but that car looks like it means business.

If I didn't live in a desert, I might have a black car....well, yours is almost black! Green, right?

I was worried about the cage without a helmet, but the rigidity is coupe-like with the cage in place.
It is padded and I do not see my head that close to the side bars. Besides 75% of the time this car is driven I will be doing an event with it. I have to remove the front part of the cage to take off the targa top and for reassembly. She is sitting in the garage without the targa top now waiting for a dry day, I have not had the 15 min to take the cage apart to re-install the targa top.
Without the cage the car is a flexi flyer!! I do have the rare factory option of the fglass targa top and that is great because the car is quite quiet!! I think I will sell the factory folding targa top if anyone is interested! And Ed yourcar is beautiful!!
The fuchs and tail are amazing!!

Please do not be foolish on the cage. In a wreck, the belts stretch, body parts (neck) extend and flail about. Your head is absolutely able to hit the bar. I bought a cage for mine, had it powdercoated, then pulled it out and cut the front off. Cages only belong on 100% track cars.

Also, do not buy into any theory that a Targa has too much flex to be effective on the track. I've seen bone stock Targas in the right hands trounce heavily modded coupes. Mark Donohue actually preferred the traits of a Targa's handling. He was one of the best road racers that was ever on this planet.

Good luick with the car and keep us posted.

I missed this the first time, but my car is a '78 Targa that has been completed converted to a 930 turbo-look cabriolet with a 3.2 from an '86. PM me if you want to talk.

The soft foam padding on the roll cage does little to no good.

Get the SFI rated stuff from a racing shop...it's hard, dense foam.

I don't have a problem with the tail, but I would want a back bumper to match the front.

Looks like a fun car that would be well set up. Nicely done.

And you'll have pretty much how a Jeep Wrangler is equipped from the factory. (Boy did I bump my head last year with the one we got as a rental in Maui.) I've not heard too many issues with fatalities in and above what you'd normally expect for that type of vehicle. But maybe now with government ownership, the plantiff's lawyers will make it the next Pinto or Samurai!

Back bumper is my next project! That is why while I am there I think doing flares would be a good compliment, but then I have to do front flares and a new front bumper.
I am kicking around a rear end backdate to the 73 look with the ducktail, can the rear backdate be done easily.
