Thanks for all the help! Seems like there are a few more to choose from recently. Going to look at 3 for now; 87 Diamond Blue Coupe, 87 White Targa, and an 86 Grey Targa. Also just found an 88 Targa through another posting here that I may go see as well. It will be tough to choose - being in So Cal, I like the targa as it gives the convertible feel, and keeps the lines of the coupes. Like several have said - getting out and driving them is half the fun!

Remember when you are looking that you don't have to take the first one. Every time you walk away it's money in your pocket. Make them want you to have there car.

If you see one or two things wrong with an otherwise great car just remember that each and every part of the car can be replaced with the click of a mouse.

A little disagreement going on here...coupe or targa/cab! I am tossed up too. I like the look of the coupe, its classic, but as Ed notes San Diego is top down heaven, I can't think of too many days when you need a roof. Its a first class problem, probably pick the best car I can find for the money.

Go into Carlsbad and go south on the 101. there is a little turnout on the beach side with a bathroom and 30-40 parking spots with a surf school at the top of the hill. A little blue targa sits there most evenings droped down on 15" cookie cutters. By day the guy must work right in town 'cause the car is allways in front of one of the eateries. The car has a surfboard that goes everywhere with it. I must have seen it a dozen times over the years. I can't think of anything that says Southern California like that little blue targa.

This car is a couple of miles away from me. I'm afraid to go look at it.

IT seems to be down to a Diamond Blue coupe and a white Traga for now, going to see them this week. There is also a black Targa that came up on CL but he wants more $ than the average I have seen. Mostly, everything I am looking at is falling between $15-17 K. I have posted the links to both in previous posts. After initally not liking the Diamond Blue, I now have changed my tune. Being in So Cal, though, a Targa or Cab seems more appropriate thatn the coupe, but I still really like the Cope looks best. Decisions, Decisions! Like someone said earlier, looking is half the fun!

Default More...needed advice...Rennlist Poll

Ok, I am appreciating everyones advice so much, l want some more opinions. I am looking for a weekend car, and the 911 performance - the two contenders are a Diamond Blue Coupe - with a few upgrades and in great shape (136K miles) and a white targa - very well cared for, totally stock, rebuilt tranny and clutch, new Chrome on the wheels (166K Miles) Southern Cali, so Targa is appealing, but the daily driver is a BMW 330CIC, so rag top is not the end of the world. Would love to hear the votes ...here are the two postings: The Diamond Blue Coupe...

http://http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotor...m=160329651293

or the White Targa...

http://http://www.autotrader.com/fyc...standard=false

The Coupe is $1k more than the targa,so beth well cared for, I have spoken to both mechanics who vouch for their condition and will do a PPI by my mechanic, so I am interested in your votes?

Duh; thought you meant you liked neither.

The white Traga is on Autotrader in Newport Beach, spoke to his meachnic and it seems the guy was meticulous and the car is in great shape - you can still check it out there. Rebuilt the tranny and no majot engine work done.

The Coupe is an old CL listing and Ebay listing - I am attaching the descriptions and some pictures, seems to have upgraded the wheels and brakes and done a valve job...here is the listing quote and the oictures are hopefully attached
Collector owned, a pampered and true survivor.
Excellent original paint and interior in amazing conditon.
Service records available, clean title in hand.

The 87 is one of the most desirable years as it has the 3.2 engine, and the G50 transmission, one of the best Porsche ever built.

Comes with BBS wheels, Bilstein shocks, and larger brakes.

Color is the rare Diamond Blue. 132k miles.

Photos do not do this car justice, seen in person it looks restored but is original ! Show quality !
