Curious about getting an insurance policy for the '87 911 through one of these carriers, or a similar type carrier.

Our 911 is a third car that is driven less than 5,000 miles per year. Mostly nice weekend days, but occasionally to work on a nice Friday.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I looked into this type of collector car insurance last year. It seems they have so many restrictions as to when, where and how many miles you can drive that the car is essentially uninsured if you take it out of your garage with the engine running. My advise is to read the fine print carefully before buying.

I have hagerty. I pay $500 per yr with no mileage restrictions, however you must own a primary car.
Agreed value of 20k. Its an 88 coupe. There are a lot other cheaper options or companys but with a lot of strings attached.
Hagerty is very flexible, been great so far!

I also have it and didn't have all those restrictions. The lady even told me that in California the milage restrictions can't be enforced. That said, the vallue of these insurance companies are when you need them...and I haven't needed them yet. It would be good to have someone comment about their real life experience when they needed their service.

I had Leland West on my old SC. They did seem to have a lot of restrictions. When I got my Mom's Benz SL I went with Hagerty.

I have a State Farm Collector car policy since I already have their auto coverage. It has no mileage restrictions, and it is for a stated value. It is competitively priced.

My 'regular' car insurance company steered me towards American Collectors (no pun intended), but after comparing to Haggerty and Grundy, I went with Grundy.

I have used Grundy to insure several cars of the past 7 years. I found them to have the least restrictions on use (no mileage restriction), the easiest to deal with and very competitively priced for agreed value coverage. Thankfully, I have not experienced filing a claim with them, but they have a very good reputation amongst those who have needed to file claims.

Both of my P cars are with Hagerty as well, I have had cars with them for over ten years and have always been happy.

I have been using JC Taylor for years.The typical restrictions are 2500 miles,garaged and a primary car for each driver in the house.About 8yrs ago I brought a 76 911s targa.The first day on the road a freak fire totaled the car.
They were great after sending them the title I had a check for the full agreed amount within a couple of weeks no questions asked.

They insure three of my classic cars for $412/yr. That includes the highest liability coverage, UM, and no-deductible comprehensive and collision coverage. The cars must be garaged, and you must prove (with a copy of coverage) that you have vehicles to drive every day.

I did read the fine print before even giving them a check.

I have Hagerty, cost me $349.00 a year which includes the Hagerty Plus Program that includes towing up to 125 miles. Also Hagerty does not have a mileage restriction.
