You may use a 7x15 (911R or late style) or a 7x16, but the latter requires some compromises on ride height.

Now,....your tire choice really is the main consideration due to the wide variances in sectional widths & profiles of the same size.

Steve,

Thank you for the quick response...what about those tire sizes? I should have asked that question that way...what wheel/tire combinations can be put on a 73 911 E to maximize the deep dish look without rolling the fenders?

Thank you,

Steve

There are some lengthy threads over on the Pelican board that explore this issue.

You might be able to get away with 7's in either a 15 or 16, using a 205/55/16 or 205/60/15 tire, but maybe not.

Wider fronts are easier than the rears, believe it or not.

The consequences of too much tire-a pulled fender lip on the front, or burned paint on the rear fender, are really bad, so you're best bet is some kind of 6" wheel with a tire that is close to the stock diameter.

Also, you will have people tell you 7's will fit all around with a 225 tire, then you see their ride height and the thing looks like a dune buggy. Super high ride height to fit wide tires=silly.
