Just a friendly reminder to 911SC and 3.2 911 owners this winter. Check your distributor for radial play. When the bushings get worn, the rotor explodes against the cap, and you get raw fuel dumped into the cat, which is scary and can destroy the cat.
This always happens when you're either own of town or on a date with the missus. Check it now while the street or race 911 is tucked away, before the spring driving or race season begins. Don't forget a drop of oil on the felt.

Actually there is an outstnding thread I saw once on pelican for cleaning and lubing the distributor .. I think John posted it here once too .. a must read ..

I saw that thread too. I think it was Gunter's. My emphasis is on regular, at least annual checking of the radial play. Besides, 3.2 distributors are pretty simple.
