I'm finally through with my G50 hydraulics nightmare. Wrench said he can hear the release fork and splines creaking/binding when he stands underneath the car and has someone push in the clutch. I know there is an updated kit for this. He said the current one could last a week, it could last a year, etc. I'm really not in a position to handle a clutch R&R at the moment (IRS got me good). Anyone know what the real bad warning signs are like? My car has 81k miles on the original clutch, and other than that creaking noise, it feels great, never slips, blah, blah. Please tell me I have some time left Thanks. <img src="confused.gif" border="0">
I jumped the gun on saying my hydraulics nightmare was over. I picked up the car tonight after I posted this first message - having just been told on the phone the car was done and clutch felt great. Got in the car and the pedal had too much play. Chief wrench was gone, but his asst. checked it out and said that was how it was supposed to feel. I was skeptical, but hadn't driven the car in a while and just wanted to test it out. By the time I got to my girlfriend's house (10 miles away), I could barely shift anymore and the pedal went almost to the floor before it disengaged. I called the garage immediately and wrench's asst. is meeting me tomorrow morning, assuming I can limp the car back there. They replaced the slave, the master and bled it real good (so they say). What the hell else could this be? $534 later I am having the EXACT same problem and to the EXACT same degree. Please tell me what I need to be looking for (besides a new wrench). I think he's a good guy who took his asst's word for it that my car was done. Thanks.
You could have air bubbles in your Hyrdo-lines if the master slave was replaced. If that is the case it <air in the lines> could work its way out or just have it re-drianed.
I am sorry to say it but your rubber cluth disc is probably ready to go too! If and when that happens your are basically stuck in one grear.
My rubber Clutch disc went out first then after replacing it the slave went next on the hydro. These cars <G50's> are getting older and many things are just starting to deteriorate.
Here's a pic of my crosshaft when it was removed at 59k miles. You can see where the needle bearings embedded themselves. The clutch disk was also "almost" down to the rivets. I thought the car shifted fine... I can only imagine what's going on to give your clutch that sinking feeling.
