Thanks again for all the help, I got the car into the shop today and it's looks it IS a deflective rebuilt starter...the car wouldn't start and I had it towed in, mechanic jacked the car up to inspect, tapped on the starter with a hammer and it started right away...
The starter is still under warranty, I just hope I don't get another bunk rebuild..

Good point. Always (in my opinion) better to have your starter rebuilt. I have seen prices very low for this service. Look for an alternator repair shop, usually located in an industrial park in a old, dusty, beat up shop with mechanics with large hands, gruff manners and excellent reputations.

I have not consider a light weight starter, are they available new?
I use Aldo Performance in SF, great shop, the starter was under warranty so I'm getting a replacement for free, won't recover what I spent on the other parts but it was probably a good time to replace them anyways.
