This particular car is a concours only car. Less miles equals less dirt to clean up before each judged event. Each time I drive it (maybe 3-4 times a year) I insure that I warm it up to full operating temperature and run it to red line for at least a shift or two. It's been this way for years now and the car shows no adverse effects of sitting.

I have 1984 3.2 that I drive daily when it's not snowing or raining.

If you took a two mile trip 500 times in one year, then once per year per 1000 miles isn't enough IMO. It's not all about miles.

Do you use synthetic? I currently change mine every two years. If there is any white contaminates around the filler hole, I would do more often. Synthetic oils do not break down from age like the older dino oils did.
