Default New tires on my beetle- might be nice for an early 911 or 914 too

Just wanted to post- had Vredestein Sprint Plus tires (and new rims) installed and these tires look great! A side comment is between the new tires, rims and a good balance from Euro Tire in Fairfield, NJ means for the first time I've got no shake in the steering I used to have between 50-60 mph!

Anyway, just wanted to let you know (I'm sure you've seen these advertised in the mags like Hemmings classic and stuff...)

As you can see, they have a classic 60's early 70's style tread and sidewall:

Nice

I used to have the old Empi 8 spokes on my 72 SuperBeetle.

Used to get a bad vibration between 35-40 MPH.

Never solved the problem after changing the tie rods, ball joints, struts, steering u-joints, rims & tires.

Yes- these cars are suspectable to the "super beetle shake" if everything isn't set up just right (I had some old aftermarker rims on the car the prior owner stuck on & after repainting the car last year and fixing the minor rust spots the old rims looked really bad).

The tires I thought are really cool as they look like the old style tires, but have modern performance. I'm sure there are early looking tires that perform better, but these would probably do for an early 911/912- maybe not by the 72 911s and other cars with lots of power/performance... The brochure for the tires shows it on things like a 356and austin healy etc- they would look right on all the usual suspects from the 60's in my opinion (Alfa, porsche, MG, austin healey, triumph, vw, etc etc). Well, I'm happy with them anyway

I put a set of their 165Rx15s on my 68's steelies last summer. Not quite as smooth as my set of Fuchs, but I suspect one of my chromed steelies may not be completely round and true--there's one wheel that really needs to be on the back. Not bad, mind you, just not perfect...

But as for the tires, I do really like them...

Man that beetle would look great with polished fuchs-looks great now. I had several sets of empi wheels over the years and they do look good. Sometimes you can find a set of original empi wheels if you dig around the salvage yards. I did.
