Tire options in 245/45/16?
Looking online at TR site, I don't see many options in the 245/45/16 size. Sumitomo HTR Z, Fuzion ZRi, and Hankook Ventus are the affordable choices, then Yoko AVS and ContiSports higher up in the price range. That's it for street tires.
I am a fan of Kumhos and have had several sets. I was going to spring for SPTs next, but they don't make it in this size. Any recommendations for a tire choice from the above? I'd rather stay in the sub-$100 range like the Kumhos. Street driving with an very infrequent DE thrown in. No more than 3000 miles/year, summer driving only.

Yes, I have heard good things about the Hankooks and the Fuzions.
I have always had Bridgestone S-02 and S-03s, but they are obviously discontinued. I like my Bridgestone RE750s, but I feel they are not as good as the old S-03s.
I should add that the Yoko AVS Intermediates are good dry weather tires, wear fast, and are absolutely wicked scary in the rain.

I have the Yokohama ES 100's. I was highly impressed with them at a DE in Roebling a few months back. The first session was fairly wet and they never surprised me at all. The rest of the day was dry and they stuck like glue. You may have a tough time finding them.

Damonfrom the Tire Rack frequent the wheel and tire forum.
Why don't you pick his brains ? I also am looking for some 245s. I have been told that the Fusions benefit from Bridgestone's rubber technology, but I haven't got any hands on to back that up.

Anyone know about the Dunlop Direzza Sport. I'm looking for a very sticky summer performance tire that is not "R". Have race tires ( Mich PS 2 cup) but want a sticky street tire to run stock in autocross. Currently have Bridgestone SO2 and would like something better Thanks

Rolled the front fenders a bit as a precautionary measure since I'm a tick below Euro rideheight. No rubbing w/ 215s and I think I could get away w/ 225s up front (next set).
No issues for me in the rear w/ 245s.
But every one of these cars is a different animal - some will rub, some won't.

I have the Sumi HTR Z's and they have been good for me for $300 shipped off TR. I don't DE or track my car as it is a cab, but I like the Sumi's. I have about 4k miles on them and after initial scrub in period, they hold a corner well and have a bit of flex in the sidewalls. Low tire noise and even wear.
I have been looking feedback on the BF Goodrich T/A KDW on our cars. My buddy had them on his 993 C4S and he liked them and they have a very cool tread pattern/look. They show on the Sears tire website, but not on TR/others. Maybe they can special order them...
Michelin/BF Goodrich is my biggest customer at work, so I try to stick with them!

I just put on order a set of Fuzion...somethingrather. ZR rated with AA traction, 320 treadwear.
This is because there are NO good options from BRIDGESTONE.
I feel that we have crossed the rubicon. It is all downhill from here on 16" tire availability.

I just had the Fuzions installed yesterday, but haven't had the chance to drive them yet. I have the Fuchs 7 x 16 and 8 X 16 on my '73. The previous tires were RE71 245/45/16 and 205/55/16 and since they fit, I wanted to replicate that choice of sizes. Getting pretty hard to do. The Hankooks and the Fuzions were the only tires available from Tire rack in that combination. BTW, the Fuzions are a Bridgestone product so I'm not sure I understand the comment about there being no options from Bridgestone.
The Toyo site showed T1Rs available in the sizes I needed, but on contacting a tire dealer supposedly a Toyo dealer, he had never heard of them. When I insisted I had seen them on the Toyo site, he checked "his website" and told me these didn't exist....???

Well, there are no good options from "Bridgestone". As for Fuzions being "Bridgestone" I have heard the same thing from other people, but that's dubious at best and I'll just leave it at that.
I have run the S-02 and S-03 PP tires, and they were awesome. I don't know what to expect from the Fuzions, but they cost less than half of the Bridgestones, so I guess my expectations are somewhat low.
