Default Corbeau FX1 seats - any experience?

I am about to get a set of racing seats for my 85 911 targa.

being on a budget, I am considering the Corbeau FX1. does anyone have them? or have any feedback from someone who has?

I have not physically seen a set of these yet, but have seen some other Corbeaus. I have seen and sat in Sparco Evo. I wonder what is different to justify the higher cost of the EVO vs the FX1.

I don't want to be penny wise and pound foolish, so any advice is welcome.

With respect to the Corbeau FX1's, I too was looking at seats for my 964. The advice I kept getting was spend the extra money and get Recaro seats. I ended up getting the Recaro Pole Position seats with 6 point harness. Get them, they are fantastic seats and have good resale value should you ever get out of track driving.

the FX1 is a light seat and the shell is very flexible. I had them installed in my old car and decided I needed a seat back brace although they do meet standards. I thought they would realy twist in an impact. They where comfortable for me. Now I have Sparco Evo's and think they are worth the additional price tag.

Agree 100%. I have the FX1 as my passenger seat because I don't care about the flex for my rider. My driver's seat is the Sparco EVO, great seat & in my opinion worth the extra $$$.

You already know my opinion! But, my friend has a set of Evos and they are really nice. I only checked out one set of Corbeau (model unknown) but I wouldn't have trusted my life to them. They were fixed but may not have been FX1.

Never heard anything bad about Evos except they can be a tight fit in some cars (a friend had to squeeze them in his 964 C4).

Note: Recaro Pole Positions fit in my 87 911 with a lot of room to spare. I think there's more room in the 911 than the 964 since the shift tunnel isn't so tall/wide.

I know a guy who's extremely happy with the FX1, but after the search here, the flex issue came up too much, so I bought a Recaro Profi SPG recently. You may want to look at Cobras, as they are about 2/3 the cost of Recaro or Sparco....I've seen some threads on them being a tight fit, but most of those comments were on newer cars.

Ed,
I sent you a PM on the disposition of your old seat. although I would prefer a matched pair, leaning toward a better seat for me but a good one for passenger. as I drive solo at DE I won't have an instructor until I go to some other track. let me know if you have an interest in selling displaced seat.
