That Interstate battery stated above cost the Deale about $65. The dealer sells it at a huge premium. If you shop around you will possibly find it chaper, Maybe around $90.

I think it is safe to say lead acid battery technology hasn't changed in the last 100 years

for me end of the day it's only 90.00. if it died after 2 years ( and mine is gong on 5 ) I would just pitch it rather than go through the pro- rated wheres your documents proving when you bought it hassle. For me if they give a 2 year over the shelf, then I buy it, the rest who cares ! . I can aford 90.00 every two years for my car, the rest is gravy.

Thanks Gents for the solid advice. I'll load check per whalebird's procedure and then proceed from there.

When I went through Porsche training from the factory, they told us that EVERY repair starts with the Battery cable/terminals. It was a matter of habit to look at the battery cables/terminals on every car that came into the shop - first. Even if it was an oil change, or airbag light or whatever-check the battery connections. You would be surprised at the number of loose/cobbled connections you will find.

Nice advice whalebird. The terminals are clean. The entire car for that matter. Your advice and that of others here has been catagorically beneifical and has saved me coin. Having looked at the car's history, lack of use, coupled with the testing (recommended here), I have concluded that the car is fine, the battery is more than likely suffering from lack of use. Putting it through deep cycle and will check one or two other items per your suggestions. Moving one to minor restoration items which I will solicit advice from this resourceful line.

I have my cars hooked up to trickle chargers, particularly during the winter. If you leave it for weeks at a time it would be a good thing to do.

As I drive the car once a week or 10 days, the trickle charger seems the way to go.
