That Interstate battery stated above cost the Deale about $65. The dealer sells it at a huge premium. If you shop around you will possibly find it chaper, Maybe around $90.

Agree. I worked for Sears Auto as a tire and battery sales manager when they switched to Exide and there was alot of hype. Patented this and patented that... Mostly BS if you ask me. In the end... we would return 10% on any given day and it seems to me (hypothetical only) that the diehard and interstate lasted about the same amount of time.. which made sense since they were both made by the same company... I mean has the technology really changed that much in the last 20 years? I'd say not... I prefer to just stick in my gp 48 or gp 49 Interstate Battery and spend my money on other things...

for me end of the day it's only 90.00. if it died after 2 years ( and mine is gong on 5 ) I would just pitch it rather than go through the pro- rated wheres your documents proving when you bought it hassle. For me if they give a 2 year over the shelf, then I buy it, the rest who cares ! . I can aford 90.00 every two years for my car, the rest is gravy.

When I went through Porsche training from the factory, they told us that EVERY repair starts with the Battery cable/terminals. It was a matter of habit to look at the battery cables/terminals on every car that came into the shop - first. Even if it was an oil change, or airbag light or whatever-check the battery connections. You would be surprised at the number of loose/cobbled connections you will find.

Nice advice whalebird. The terminals are clean. The entire car for that matter. Your advice and that of others here has been catagorically beneifical and has saved me coin. Having looked at the car's history, lack of use, coupled with the testing (recommended here), I have concluded that the car is fine, the battery is more than likely suffering from lack of use. Putting it through deep cycle and will check one or two other items per your suggestions. Moving one to minor restoration items which I will solicit advice from this resourceful line.
