Welcome and congratulations for such a nice 1971! People would kill for a real S from that era. And a Sportomatic, no less!

Definitely do the European Delivery with a new one. (That's what I did a couple of years ago). You can read the story I wrote about doing that:

rented boxster S for the weekend. had an amazing time...i found some porscheness here and there that's been inherited from old porsches. like shape of power window switches, design of the dash (unlike 996 or 986), position of the ignition...etc. i never thought i would like boxster so much. Also the sound of boxer engine sounded like aircooled engine at low rpm. The handling....i guess i dont have to explain how good it was.
