Default PPI ?

Hi All, I know what to look for on a 993, but is there a link listing what to look for on an 87-88 model? I'm having an itch...

TIA.

The used 911 story, by Pete Zimmerman, is a start. Other than that you have to rely on the guy doing the PPI being an expert on the vintage.

I know of a super sweet blk/blk 88 coupe 85k miles no stories perfect! It is in NJ. New Michelins, perfect interior, perfect orginal paint, tune up including valves, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, alignment, silver cocoa mats, silver momo prototipo. Simply immaculate car. PM if you're interested.

87-89 G-50 cars are great the biggest issue in my opinion was the needle bearing in the throw-out mechanism. approx. $150.00 in parts but you have to yank the engine and trans to replace. Make sure the clutch is smooth and consistent through its range of motion. Compression and leak down should out any valve guide issues though in reality the viton seal issue was isolated. Makes sure it is relatively vibration free at hwy speeds and under braking. check for normal 911 leaks oil press sending unit, t-stat o-ring, return tubes, make sure seller can provide current inspection records THAT PASS!! Make sure the climate controls are functioning properly. These cars are much less complicated than 993s. but just as satisfying to own. In fact the guy selling the above mentioned car sold his 993 for this 911.

Brgds, Peter

Found 3 locally on craigslist, price are all over the map. Not interested in any of these, but this is what I found.

http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/m...010567033.html

http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/n...011607824.html

http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/n...007592205.html

Prices are all over the map it seems.

What is a going price toda for an 88 in good condition with 80k miles? I'm trying to encourage a past co-worker to sell his since he hardly ever drives it. Red on black with tail.....and SUV original height, infact all original.

TIA

In this market I doubt that you could get an "expert" to commit to a price. Sports Car Market magazine's price guide is as accurate as any. Their '09 edition gives a range between $17K and $23K with a negative 5% (value reduction) over the previous year. That range is for #2 cars - cars with no stories, no obvious flaws, in good running condition (more info available on SCM's web site).
