Default Upholstery by Autos International--anyone had work done lately?

I'm thinking of having the seats in my 993 reupholstered, so I'm looking for references, experience, or recommendations regarding Autos International in Escondido. If you've had work done by them recently, I'd be very interested to hear about your experience.

These guys?

http://www.autosintl.com/

I bought a seat upholstery kit from them a few years ago, and was very happy. It was cheper than going with custom made seats from a local shop. If you are re-using seat foam it might be better to go custom, but my seat foam was in good enough shape for it to work out well.

I bought a new leather seat cover for my driver's side from them. They were very professional and the fit and finish was very good. I installed it myself with not much problem, although it did require several hours of labor to remove seat, strip off old cover and install the new one.

Many of the restoration projects I've read about in 'excellence' magazine state that Autos International did the interior work. Some of these projects were extensive restorations with lots of money spent on them and Autos International gets the nod to do the work. I personally have never had work done by this shop, but based on all the stuff I've read over the years, it would be the first stop for my car if I needed interior work done.

They've long had a great reputation.

I've had many things done by AI and they are top notch. They carry all the correct materials, and specialize on Porsches. I drop in every few months just to look around and see their latest project and chat with Augustine. Expensive, but done right.

Ouch, I was going to change my interior from tan to black, but I might change that option to engine and suspension upgrades now. lol

I live in Georgia and brought the German leatherette kit from Auto International . It took them several weeks to make up the kit, and they shipped it to Florida for me, where I was having the car done. The seats came out fantastic and it was a pleasure doing business with them.

I know this is an old thread but would like to know if you can share pictures of the work done by Autos International. I am planning to have my 993 hardback seats reupholstered from it's current black color to provence blue which is the color of my interior. Thanks.

And at the same time I'd like to trade my blue seats for black.

If I was restoring a 911 interior, I'd ship it to Tony @ Autobahn interiors. I think he is the Premier interior guy for Porsche in the US, but I'm sure his quality doesn't come cheaply. He rebuilt the foam in one of my 993 seats, and his shop had to RS', several 356's and some longhoods. An old Alfa too. Unbelievable to me that I got so excited visiting an upholstery shop.

Either AI or "Ab" will do a great job. AI did everything but the installtion in my 356 Roadster.

You gonna re-do that fancy ruffled leather on your special edition, Doyle?
It's gonna look great I'm sure...
