Not my thing either. Styling-wise it's a hash of parts from street and race cars and it looks like an abortion.
I only hope he didn't sacrifice a 914-6 and a 356 Continental.

Dude, I have to agree with you.
I have to respect anyone capable of building such a machine, but the "outlaw" look is definitely not consistent my idea of Porsche. Not sure what the reference to an outlaw 356 is all about... my reading of the development of the 356 doesn't bring to mind 1940s Chicago gangstars.

This hot rod is far from wrong. It's a marvelous work and it's well worth a trip to see it in the metal. Last I saw it for sale (it's been on the market for a year or more) the asking price reflected the cost of the project. I'm guessing it could change hands around US$75-100K. Seen indoors, the only aspect that doesn't "work" is the elongated tail which just is disproportionate and doesn't connect with the rest of the car. I seem to recall (it's been a long time) that Fantasy Junction had a larger gallery of photos and some build shots, but maybe it was at another site. The car has no pedigree or significance, so if someone wanted the basic machine, I think the first step would be to dispose of the tail section and get it tested for handling and aerodynamics, then go drive it and enjoy it, there's just no point in leaving this collection of parts and hard work just sit there. If I had the spare cash, I'd happily buy it, tweak the mechanicals and enjoy it as one of numerous novelty cars I'd like to have available in a big, dry warehouse next to a great track and some great driving roads.

Yes...it was at Fantasy Junction where you saw it. I think its a great interpretation of a Porsche, kinda Salvadore Daly'esque. Not exactly my cup of tea either, but its a great piece.
