Got 'em on today! 911 16x7 on rear, 951 16x7 on front, all 4 tires are 205/50 GoodYear Eagle F1's. Rear camber is max negative that stock eccentric adjusters will allow. Just a hair below euro ride height. Lips are not rolled but I may decide to for some additional insurance. I believe this is the max width fuchs setup for a narrowbody car without getting middie-evil on it!

Oooo-Aaaaah!!

Looks like they fit great! No rub at all in the rear?

By the way, here's a picture of my attempt to put 15 x 7's on the rear with 205 60 tires. They rubbed about 3 inches up inside the rear fenders whenever I accelerated.

Good looking car and the wheels look great. I'm in the slow process of re-painting the Fuchs on my '83 SC . I run 6 and 7 on the street and 7 and 8 for auto x and track. Your car brings back memories as I bought the last 1977 911S the factory sold. A silver US spec car and I took delivery Christmas Eve 1977 on the factory front steps. Cost was 15,000 marks which equated to a little over $7000 US dollars. Seems so long ago. My 2009 Silver Carrera S was expect by Christmas this year but there was a delay in the shipping and I will see it the first week in January . Merry Christmas to all.

No rubbing on the rear although the clearance is close. I compressed the rear on each side about four inches and there is still about an inch clearance before the edge of the tire would contact the fender in the area you describe. There are a few factors involved with the rubbing issue. You had 60 series tires, try 50's. Also, not all tires of the same nominal size have the same section width (widest dimension usually at the sidewalls) some 205's are wider than others. Also, your rear camber must be set to at least a degree or two negative. Ride height setting is a factor. No/small rear swaybar will allow the outer wheel to compress during hard cornering. Lastly, if your rear suspension is soft i.e. sagging tortion bars or weak shocks the suspension will compress more than if it's set up stiff. You can also play with the snubbers inside the shocks by adding additional rubber snubbers or washers to limit total travel to the point where the tires will not rub in extreme suspension load situations. By the way if you're looking for wheels I have seen quite a few 16x7 fuchs on the Pelican classified lately.

That's a cool story! And a new silver S from Santa this Christmas. You must have been very good this year! Would $7k US buy PCCB brakes and floor mats for your 997? What ever bacame of the '77?

You should be able to run 7 inch rims all around; I ran 7x15s on my 77 and rolled the front left fender lip a little. 7x16s should work out the same.

Probably still in Germany. I sold it and went Porsche-less for 20 years while the kids grew and I paid for College, Weddings and kids cars. But now I'm back into it in abig way. Retirement is fun. Merry Christmas Jack
