Intermittent Problem with 911SC running Lean
Over the past few weeks, I have encountered a problem were the engine will suddenly idle rough after pulling up at the lights/intersection with a loss of power EG. Acceleration is flat through the whole RPM range. After some troubleshooting, I have come with the following facts.
The Car:
1981SC euro spec (Australian Delivered)
The Symptoms:
1. The problem will fix itself after a couple of minutes.
2. During the problem, the engine temp increases substantially from normal running temperature.
3. While it is running rough with no power, If I turn off the ignition and start the car again it is instantly OK.
I was fortunent to replicate the problem at a local P-Specialist on a engine analyzer and when this problem occurs, the CO% was dropping from 2.5% to 1.5% thus it would appear that the CIS is leaning the mixture for some reason and fixing itself.
All the ignition componants test OK.
As this problem is intermittant and generally occurs after cruising for a while and not during stop and start driving I am out of ideas.
Any comments, help would be much appreciated.
Regards,
Adam
