I like Wurth Rubber Care or Gummi Pfledge (sp?) for conditioning, and for regular after-wash cleaning and sprucing, I use this stuff called "LRV" Leather Rubber Vinyl made by The Wax Shoppe. Zymol makes a good vinyl conditioner too.

I use Lexol's Vinylex for concours (it's not real rain proof). One Grand exterior vinyl treatment is exceptional for daily drivers. It'll turn graying rubber/vinyl back to black after a few treatments and keeps it that way.

There have been a bunch of brands listed here and everyone comments on how good it makes the tail trim look, but does anybody know which of these products is the best for keeping the rubber supple and really protecting it from the elements?

All of these products we are mentioning do the same thing. The Wurth products mentioned above are always a safe bet and I've been using Vinylex for nearly 15 years on cars and never noticed any degradation of the surfaces that I use this stuff on.
The key is to have a product provide UV protection for when the rubber is left in the sun (which I know the Vinylex product I mention above does and I'm sure other products do as well). If one of these products makes the rubber or vinyl look great again and doesn't completely wash away every time it rains or you wash the car, then you know that the product is working it's way into the pores of the rubber and is keeping the rubber healthy.
Everyone has their favorite and I bet 99% of these products mentioned above does the job effectively. Just avoid the cheap "over the counter" stuff that may contain silicone which doesn't really help much. You get what you pay for.

Well you can try spitting on it.
Seriously, I went out to the garage and checked on my previous recommendation
LRV is now called "High Gloss Protectant" by The Wax Shop. It is very good on the foam rubber trim and weatherseals. I did not say anything about "looking good" either.
Gummi Pflege Stift Rubber Care Stick by einszett North America
Wurth Rubber Care by Wurth Florida Inc.
Zymol "Seal" or Zymol "Vinyl" are both very good. "Vinyl" is specifically made for vinyl and rubber trim. It washes off faster than LRV/ High Gloss Protectant. You can get it from Emmons Coachworks.
None of the above will re-hydrate damaged trim. The goal is to prevent UV damage in the first place. Of all of the above, I like The Wax Shop stuff the best, then the Wurth, then Zymol. I have not tried the Meguire's yet.
I agree don't waste your dough on cheapo stuff. Pay for quality.
Is that a good enough answer?

Mother's Back to Black works well. A well-aged lip is going to require a few applications since I have found very dry/faded surfaces to end up looking streaked after only one application.
