Default Clutch Question

Hi!
I am a newbie, looking into buying a used Porsche. Last weekend, I test drove my first, a 1999 911 Carrera C2. It has 50,000 miles on it. Here's my question ...

When I pushed in the clutch pedal it felt "crunchy". On my current car (a 2005 MazdaSpeed), pushing in the clutch is very smooth, like pushing it through jelly; on this car it was like pushing it through sandy gravel.

Am I correct in assuming that it should not have felt like this?

Thanks for your feedback.

You're correct. It should feel very smooth throughout the range. Post follow on questions on the 996 board as that represents the 1999 water-cooled models of which you're interested.

This is the general 911 group,--air cooled.
