for your stated desires, either type could be just fine. so... whichever one is most appealing is the one you should have thoroughly inspected by an early 911 expert (esp one versed in accident damage / chassis condition / rust issues). don't be overly influenced by the "numbers-matching" on a 911 intended for driving enjoyment more so than for the originality points or a survivor / concours garage queen for "display purposes only". Paint's job is to protect the body from the effects of climate & deter rust - beyond that is merely personal taste & standards. I'd have the '71 looked at first & hope it checks out.

If you are not already swayed by one vs the other, then drive them both (if possible) to determine which you want. A 71T may have greater investement potential, buyt they aren't making anymore original "mid years" either. Both will likely appreciate in value.. so just buy the one you enjoy more!

For 12K you should be able to find a very nice 911SC in this market. I'd run away from both of them.
