I mean, I could be way off, but this seems awfully high for a 74 Targa. Even in awesome condition...

There is always somebody " selling for a friend" ,,seams there are a lot of friends around that don't know how to sell cars, so they have their friends do it ....

"obtain it for a fraction of the value" if it sounds too good to be true....
I did see two other nice '74 Targa Carrera's advertised somewhere for like 50k+. I'm wondering if the '73 pricing has gotten so high that these are next? Wishful thinking right now but I think I'll keep driving mine rather than parking it in a bubble.

You have ethics, that's why it doesn't make sense . I'd NEVER buy a car off ebay, in fact, based upon my experience with the few ebay purchases I have made, it's a "scammer's cesspool", and I don't even go there...

Yikes.. I wonder if it blew out the non-pop off valve Airbox, or blowing a few head studs, 15 years ago and has been sitting ever since. Not started in 15 years sounds like trouble. Sure US spec, original 2.7 Carerras are rare.. but $42K rare? Yikes! Sad part is, if on the market back in April it could have gotten that money.. With todays poor global economy? maybe 20K.
